Crime Stoppers Open Cases
for Week of February 17-23, 2003

St. Cloud Police:

On 02/16/03 at 9:54 PM, Officers were dispatched to Northern Wire at 6601 Ridgewood Rd. in reference to a burglary. Upon arrival officers discovered that the business had been entered into. Several vending machines were broken into and one was stolen. Currently the damages and loss of the vending machine total over $1,000.00. The investigation continues.

Stearns County Sheriff:

On 2/15/2003 at 6:00 AM, officers responded to the report of damage to a Stearns Electric power substation at County Roads 18 and 25, in Raymond Township.

The damage consisted of four 20 gauge shotgun rounds penetrating the transformer and destroying it. The incident occurred sometime during the previous night. The transformer is valued at $130,000 and approximately 600 customers were left without power.

The Sauk Centre Police Department had a similar incident and both agencies are investigating.

Meeker County Sheriff:

The Meeker County Sheriff's Office is seeking the public's help in locating several ATV's, a company truck with tools and an enclosed snowmobile trailer, with a total value of approximately $ 100,000.00, which was taken in the early morning hours of February 21,2003, from Mies Equipment in Watkins, Minnesota.

The truck is described as a white 2000 Ford F350 dually pick-up with Minnesota license YAM6361. The lettering "Mies" and "John Deere" are on both the driver and passenger side doors. There is a solid yellow stripe under a larger green stripe leading from the doors to the box.. The words John Deere, including a John Deere logo, is on the box. The box lettering is green.

The truck bed holds a large white utility tool box with several storage compartments on each side of the box. The utility box contains numerous Snap-On tools, a welder, and a portable air compressor. The utility box is open in the middle.

The enclosed snowmobile trailer is a 20 foot Gull Wing. A diamond treading plate covers the bottom portion of the trailer on the front and back. The trailer is white with a large blue Polaris logo on both sides of the trailer, including red sweeping checkers to the front of the Polaris logo. Decals with the words "The way out" is located under the Polaris logo on both sides. A yellow caution sticker, two red Polaris decals, and a smaller version of the side logos are on the rear or the trailer. This combination is very rare. There is a two inch dent on the left side of the trailer.

Also taken were five Polaris ATV's:

2. 2004, Sportsman 500 HO, sonic-blue
3. 2004, Sportsman 500 HO, olive drab green
4. 2003, Predator 500, gray
5. 2003, Predator 500, gray

Sauk Rapids Police and St. Cloud Police:

Officers from Sauk Rapids and St. Cloud are investigating a series of Thefts from Vehicles that occurred on Wednesday evening, February 19th, 2003.

In Sauk Rapids, five vehicles were broken into while parked in the parking lot Sports Arena East, 1401 3rd Avenue South. Seven women had their purses and other valuables stolen. Five of the purses were later recovered in Munsinger Park in St. Cloud.

Items taken from the recovered purses include: cash, Social Security cards, Medical cards, a Voter Registration card, a diamond pendant, credit cards, gift cards, and a prescription card.

St. Cloud police are investigating a series of Thefts from Vehicles, that same evening, at the Whitney Senior Center parking lot.

Witnesses reported seeing two vehicles containing teenagers driving around in this area.
