Crime Stoppers Open Cases
for Week of April 7, 2003

Albany Police and Melrose Police:

The Albany Police and Melrose Police are jointly investigating a pair of thefts that occurred overnight between Friday, April 4th at 6:00 PM and 7:30 AM on Saturday, April 5th.

First, individuals stole a 1989 Ford Cargo Van with a 24 foot box from Specialty Seat, 1600 Rail Road Avenue in Albany. This vehicle contained some pallet jacks.

This vehicle was use to transport 8 ATVs which were stolen from Melrose Marine & Sports Inc., 151 Country Club Road in Melrose. The pallet jacks were used to load the machines, after they had been removed from their crates. The stolen ATVs were all Sportsman 600 and 700 models. They were either blue or yellow and black in color. The suspects cut a hole in the security fence and drove away.  The empty truck was found abandoned in St. Paul.

St. Cloud Police:

On 4-6-03 Officers from the St. Cloud Police Department received numerous reports of American Flags being stolen from outside of residences off of flagpoles overnight. At least 6 persons wanted to file theft reports with the police department and several 0thers called in to notify the department, but did not want to file a report.
The flags were stolen from various locations throughout the city, including County Rd 75, Killian Blvd and on 19th Avenue North.
The flags ranged in value from $50 to $100.

On 04-05-03 at 12:50 AM, officers responded to the 400 block of 6th Ave. S, in reference to an attempted robbery/assault complaint. Victim was walking home from the downtown area and was approached by 2 males asking for money. The victim refused to give them money, started to walk away, and was struck in the back of the head with an unknown object. The victim received substantial injury from the assault and was transported to the St. Cloud Hospital. The suspects were described as a black male 5'-8" to 5'-10" 18-20 years of age, medium build, with a shaved head and a white male 5'-8" to 5'-10" 18-20 years of age, medium build with no further description.

On 04-05-03 at 1:27 AM, officers responded to the 400 block of71h Ave. S, in reference to an attempted robbery/assault complaint. 2 victims were: outside of an apartment building and were: approached by 2 males who were asking for money. The male victim refused to give them any and was assaulted by the 2 suspects and a group of others who, were also in the area. A female victim attempted to assist the male being assaulted and was struck by members in the group. The suspect males fled the area. The initial 2 suspects had similar descriptions as the males described in the attempted robbery/assault which had occurred in the 400 block of 6th Ave. S, at approximately 12:50 AM. The incidents are believed to be related.
