Crime Stoppers Open Cases
for Week of May 12, 2003

Sherburne County Sheriff

The Sherburne County Sheriff's Department is seeking assistance from the public in locating three individuals allegedly involved in a theft from the Briggs Lake General Store on May 11, which was Mother's Day. According to Chief Deputy Scott Gudmundson, three males, estimated to be in their early to mid-twenties, entered the store when it opened at approximately 7 a.m. While one of the suspects distracted the clerk at the front of the store, the other two allegedly stole deposit bags from the safe and removed a VCR connected to the store's video surveillance system.

  • Suspect 1 is described as a darker-complexioned white male, approximately 5'8" tall weighing 150 pounds. Also noted was the suspect's heavily-gelled hair.

  • Suspect 2 is described as a white male with brown hair, approximately 5'11" tall weighing 170 pounds.

  • Suspect 3 is described only as a white male.
     

The three suspects arrived and left in a vehicle described as a white, 4-door car.

Waite Park Police Department

The Waite Park Police are investigating a burglary which occurred on the 800 block of 2nd Ave S on May 2nd between the hours of 6:50 am and 12:00 pm. Removed from the residence were a Cyberhome DVD player and two speakers, black in color, and about 36 inches tall.

Sartell Police Department

Sartell Police are investigating a number of thefts, burglaries and vandalism cases.

  • May 10th, 600 block of West Sartell Street - An unlocked vehicle was entered while it was parked in the garage. The garage door was accidentally left open. There was no damage to the vehicle. Missing are a Canon 35mm Rebel camera and a black/green camera bag, value $450.

  • May 10th, 1000 block of 4th St N - A purse was taken from a vehicle parked in a garage. The garage door was left open and the car was unlocked.

  • May 10th, 1000 block of Lawrence Circle - sometime between 9:00 pm and midnight on the previous night someone entered a garage and stole a Nokia Model #950 digital camera and CDs.

  • Vandalism - May 12th, 100 block of 1st St N - driver's window on a vehicle was broken out. The vehicle was parked on the street in front of the house. Nothing was missing from the vehicle.

  • Vandalism - May 12th, 800 block of 10th Ave N - three windows were broken out during the night. The vehicle was parked in the lot of an apartment building. It appeared that someone may have shot the windows out with a BB gun. Nothing missing from the vehicle.

Stearns County Sheriff

The Stearns County Sheriff is investigating a large number of vehicle break-ins which occurred during the nighttime hours of May 11th. A total of 18 vehicles were broken into and vandalized. The vehicle break-ins occurred in the Sartell, Avon and St. John's area. Little of value was taken from the cars but several vehicles had multiple windows smashed out.

Also reported was a burglary at Martini Motors in Avon. Entry was gained by smashing the front door. Some cell phones and walkie-talkies were stolen and a computer monitor was destroyed. A similar crime was reported two weeks ago, also on a Sunday night.
