Crime Stoppers Open Cases
for Week of August 18, 2003

Stearns County Sheriff's Office
On August 8, 2003, the Stearns County Sheriff received a report of tires being slashed on a red 2002 Buick LeSabre at the Horseshoe Lake public access south of Richmond. It happened at about 7:15 am. The owner of the car had launched his boat and accidentally cut a fishing line of someone fishing from a nearby dock. The owner of the car had gone out fishing and when he returned he found his tires had been slashed. The people fishing from the dock, two hispanic males and one white male, are suspected of committing the crime.

Stearns County Sheriff's Office
The Stearns County sheriff received numerous theft complaints from Long Lake in Lynden Township. At least eight watercraft had property stolen from them. Missing items included a MinnKota trolling motor, fishing rods and tackle boxes. The thefts happened between 1 am and 3 am on Wednesday, August 13th.

Waite Park Police Department
The Waite Park P.D. is investigating a burglary which happened on 7th St S on August 1. Someone entered the home and removed cash and two guns from the residence. There was no forced entry. Value of the stolen items is $1,500.

The Waite Park P.D. is investigating a burglary at Poganski Automotive, 408 3rd St N, which occurred on August 2, 2003. Forced entry occurred and three paintball guns and many boxes of paintballs were removed. Value is $1,110.

The Waite Park P.D. is investigating a burglary that happened at River's Edge Park on August 3. Someone entered the concession stand, sprayed a fire extinguisher and removed a dozen Rawlings baseballs, candy and candy bars. Value $500.

The Waite Park P.D. is investigating a burglary at HDV, located in the Ardolf Technology Building on 3rd St N in Waite Park. Two laptops were removed from the business.

The Waite Park P.D. is investigating nine car break-ins which occurred between 4th and 7th Ave N in Waite Park. The break-ins occurred on August 5th, 6th and 7th.

The Waite Park P.D. is investigating five complaints of gunshots being heard between August 4th and 11th in the Discovery School area along 7th St S. One bullet did enter a garage door in a home located in this area.

The Waite Park P.D. is investigating a burglary that occurred in the evening hours of August 18th or the early morning hours of August 19th at Election Systems and Software located on 28th Ave S. Computers and software were removed from the business.

Sherburne County Sheriff's Office
The Sherburne County Sheriff's Office has received the following reports of vandalism and theft.

  • July 26, 2003 - Between midnight and 6:30 am, an unknown suspect(s) threw a rock through the rear window of a vehicle parked in the driveway of a residence on the 26300 block of 6th St W in Zimmerman.
  • August 2, 2003 - Sometime between 9:30-11:30 pm, unknown suspect(s) entered an unlocked shed located on the 26300 block of 9th St W in Zimmerman and removed two bicycles.
  • August 6, 2003 - Sometime between August 1 and August 5, unknown suspect(s) entered a residence on the 4200 block of 135th Ave in Palmer Township (east of St. Cloud) and took one saxophone and four guitars, without permission. The item descriptions are as follows: Bundy II alto sax, bronze in color, valued at $2,400; a brown, acoustic Alvarez guitar valued at $1,200; an electric Guild Starfire III guitar valued at $7,500; an electric Gretchy County Gentleman valued at $5,000; and an electric Peavy Solid Body guitar valued at $2,000. The total value is estimated to be between $10,000 and $12,000.
  • August 8, 2003 - Sometime between 10:30 pm on August 7 and 5:30 am on August 8, unknown suspects placed Superglue on the door locks of a vehicle parked on the 9800 block of 185th Ave in Becker Township. In addition, foam insulation was sprayed in the gas tank.
  • August 8, 2003 - Unknown suspect(s) entered an unlocked, detached garage on the 21700 block of County Road 43 in Big Lake Township and stole a PSE compound bow.
