Crime Stoppers Open Cases
for Week of September 29, 2003

Avon Police:

The Avon Police are investigating a Burglary and Criminal Damage Property at the Avon Car Wash at 430 County Road 50 on 9-29-03. Between 5:30 and 7:15 PM, unknown suspect(s) entered the car wash and pried open the change machine inside the car wash. Missing from the business is $600.00 to $700.00 mostly in quarters. The suspect(s) also removed and stole the coin machines bill validator. It appears that the suspect may have been interrupted and left the scene in a hurry. The car wash was open for business at the time of the incident. The Albany Police are assisting in the investigation.

Total value of loss: $1200 plus damage to the property.

Benton County Sheriff and Rice Police:

The Benton County Sheriff and Rice Police are investigating a theft at Pine’s Edge Grocery at 1490 110th Street NW in Rice. On 09-29-03, a Black male and Caucasian female walked into the store and while an employee was attending to other customers, the black male reached over the counter and removed a money bag containing approximately $225.00, from under a cash register. Digital surveillance video was obtained of the suspects and will be added to this web site when available.

Suspect #1; Black male, in his 20’s, black hair, brown eyes, medium to heavy build, wearing a tee shirt, shorts and white tennis shoes with red toes. He also had on a dark blue Addidas baseball cap.

Suspect #2: Caucasian female, in her late 20’s or early 30’s, Sandy Blond shoulder length hair in two pony tails. She was wearing a light colored sleeveless shirt, jean shorts and white tennis shoes.

Benton County Sheriff and Rice Police:

The Benton County Sheriff's Office is Investigating two burglaries that occurred overnight in the City of Rice. At 6:00 am on 9-30-03, an employee of the Creamery Cafe, 405 Main St. E., Rice reported finding the rear door forced open and over $400.00 in cash missing from the cash register.

Benton County Sheriff and Rice Police:

At approximately 6:44 am, on 0-30-03, a maintenance person at the Rice Elementary School found that the School Office had been forcibly entered and a safe forced open, The loss is not known at this time.

Stearns County Sheriff:

On 8/20/03, SCSO received a report of a burlgary at the St. Martin Ballpark, on Sauk Landing Road. Extensive damage was done to the main door when suspects forced entry. A 4" crescent wrench was found at the scene. Nothing was reported missing at the time of the report

Stearns County Sheriff:

On 9-14-03, the SCSO received a report of a burglary at Midwest Coverall in Maine Prairie Twp. Stolen were two Miller wire feed welders, one a model 250, the other a model 130. Also stolen were 5 Dewalt 1/2" impact wrenches and a portable power washer

Waite Park Police:

The Waite Park Police Department is investigating a burglary that occurred on Sept 28th at MINCO in Waite Park. There was forced entry and several computer items were taken.  Value: $270.00

Waite Park Police:

Value: $3000+
The Waite Park Police Department is investigating a theft that occurred between Sept 25th and Sept 26th, 2003 at Anderson Storage Sheds in Waite Park. A boat parked at this location had several fishing related items removed from it.

Waite Park Police:

The Waite Park Police Department is investigating a possible Nigerian Internet Scam.
The victim placed a trailer for sale on the internet. He was contacted via email by someone who was interested in purchasing the trailer. He was advised that he would receive a check for more money than he was asking for the trailer to cover shipping costs, etc. When the check was received he was then to cash the check and take the money owed to him. He was then instructed to wire the remaining amount to the shipping agent who would then deliver the trailer to the buyer. The check was a forged check. Value: $1000+

St. Cloud Police: (From week of September 22, 2003)  Correction, this case was not solved as previously reported.

On 09/23/03 at 6:44 PM, officers were dispatched to 811 W. St. Germain for a report of a male who had been assaulted. Upon arrival officers met with the victim, a 30 year old homeless male. Investigation revealed that an unknown male approached the victim and demanded his money. When the victim refused to give him the money, he struck him over the head with a bottle. The suspect then fled on foot without taking any money. He was last seen leaving the area on foot.

The victim was transported by Gold Cross and remains in the St. Cloud Hospital.

The suspect is described as a B/M, early 40's with a medium build and a mustache.
