Crime Stoppers Open Cases
for Week of August 23, 2004.

Reward Payment:

Tri-County Crime Stoppers, Inc. is pleased to announce that a reward has been paid in a case that was featured earlier this year on our new web site.

This reward was for information, which resulted in solving a Central Minnesota crime.

With this payment, our total for rewards paid is $ 29, 555.00.

St. Cloud Police: 3 Arson fires

On 8-22-04 at 1:06 AM, officers from St. Cloud PD were dispatched to the 700 block of 18th Ave S. in reference a car fire. Upon arrival police and fire department staff found the vehicle interior in flames. The fire department put the fire out.

At 01:48 AM, another car fire was reported a short distance away which the fire department responded to and put out.

At 01:51 AM, a fire was reported at 1112 Wash, Memorial. Dr. in which a couch was set on fire.

The Police and Fire Department are investigating the arsons.

St. Cloud Police: Hit-and-Run

On 08-19-2004 at 21:32 PM, officers were dispatched to the 300 block of 33rd Ave N in reference to a complaint of a car pedestrian hit and run.

Investigation revealed that a 41 year old male bicyclist was traveling on the sidewalk northbound on the west side of the roadway and was crossing the Wells Fargo exit. A vehicle, described as a late 90's maroon Oldsmobile Alero, was exiting the parking lot and struck the bicyclist.

The driver of the vehicle was described as a white male approximately 18 years of age wearing a baseball cap backward. The driver of the motor vehicle failed to stop at the scene of the accident and drove from the area eastbound on 3rd St N.

The bicyclist was transported by Gold Cross Ambulance Service to the St. Cloud Hospital and treated for minor injuries.

St. Cloud Police: Residential Burglary

On 08-2l-O4 at 9:22 PM, the St. Cloud Police Department was sent to a residence in the 7oo block of 9th Avenue North for a burglary complaint. Investigation revealed that unknown suspect(s) had entered the residence sometime during the night while the homeowner was sleeping and stole a VCR.

St. Cloud Police: Hit-and-Run with Personal Injury  (From week of August 9, 2004)

Do you know anyone who:

1- Owns a late model, full size, black Chevrolet pick-up truck with this decal in the back window or

2- Someone who may have recently removed such a decal or

3- Someone who normally drove a black Chevrolet pick-up and recently stopped driving it?

On 08/11/04 at approximately 8:40 PM, an adult female was jogging northbound on County Road 136 on the east side of the road. She was in the 2300 block of County Road 136 when she was struck from behind by a pickup truck.

The truck is described as a full size Chevrolet pickup, newer model possible late '90's, black in color, with a full-sized Chevy symbol/emblem outlined in white in the back window. Witness saw the vehicle from the back and was unable to tell if it was a regular cab or extended cab. After striking the jogger the truck continued Northbound on County Road 136 toward, 22nd Street South. The witness lost sight of the truck and does not know if it went north, east, or west. The number of occupants in the vehicle is unknown.

The victim remains hospitalized in serious condition.
