Stearns County Sheriff: Shots
Fired, Pet Killed
A Sauk Center resident was walking his dogs when someone in an older truck
drove by and shot one of the dogs. This happened on 12-22-05 at approx
1800 hours in the 41000 block of 435th Avenue in Sauk Center Township.
There are no suspects at this time.
The dog’s owner was walking around some cut down trees with his 3 English
Springer Spaniels when a truck drove by. The truck either turned around or
backed up while the victim was behind some brush. He heard a shot and took
cover. 2 of the dogs came running back to him. He heard a second shot whiz
by where he was. Then a third shot hit his 3 dog which was trying to run
to him. The dog was shot and died. He thinks by a .22 cal but not sure.
When he saw his dog he yelled and the truck took off.
Because he was taking cover, the only description the victim could provide
was that the vehicle was an older truck with a loud muffler. He also said
the color was not “white”. The truck was last seen going south bound on
435th Avenue.
