St. Cloud Police: Shots Fired

On 04-18-05 at approximately 0637 hours, officers of the St, Cloud Police Department were dispatched to 425 15th Avenue SE, for a suspicious vehicle complaint. The caller reported seeing a blue conversion van and 8 grey four door vehicle pu1l into the parking lot and each vehicle had multiple occupants. Before officers arrived, a male from one of these vehicles approached apartment #1 and fired two shots into the second floor exterior of the residence. The male then got into one of the previously mentioned vehicles and fled the area.

Apartment # 1 was occupied, but no persons were injured. The matter is currently under investigation.

St. Cloud Police: Phone Scam

On 04/18/05 at 1620 hours the police responded to a phone scam. An unknown male caller made contact with a female inquiring about her checking account. The caller had enough information to know where the victim banked at and phone number.

Police are concerned about checks that were stolen in the past eighteen months specifically those taken from the Holy Spirit safe. (Please see Open Cases for week of May 10, 2004)

Police want the public to be aware of any phone calls relating to checking accounts and alleged monies owed to others.

Benton County Sheriff: Business Burglary

On April 17, 2005, at 4:34 a.m. the Benton County Sheriff's Department responded to an alarm call at Pine's Edge Grocery, 1490A 110th St. N.W., Rice, MN.

Further investigation revealed that suspect(s) gained entry to the building by way of the roof and tripped alarm while inside. It appears the suspect(s) left through a rear door.

St. Cloud Police: Arson

On 04/15/05 at approximately 0140 hours an officer from the St. Cloud Police Department was dispatched to 900 block of 1st Avenue South for a dumpster fire. This is the second dumpster fire at Shoemaker Hall in two weeks. The St. Cloud Fire Department extinguished the fire.

There is no suspect information and the case is inactive.

St. Cloud Police: Residential Burglary

On 04/15/05 at 0240 hours an officer from the St. Cloud Police Department was dispatched to 600 block of 7th Avenue South for a burglary complaint. Investigation revealed that between midnight and 0200 hours unknown person(s) entered the unlocked residence and stole approximately 250 DVDs, 100 CDs, a Playstation 2 game system, a DVD player, and a small amount of cash.

Tenants have no suspect information.

Benton County Sheriff: Business Burglary

On April 15, 2005, a burglary was reported at Wollack's Hardware in the City of Rice. The burglary occurred during the overnight hours. The suspect(s) gained entry to the property under the chainlink fence and forced entry through a service door to one of the buildings.
