St. Cloud Police: Phone Scam

On 06/14/05 at 1423 hours a St. Cloud officer was dispatched to a phone scam complaint. A 78 year old St. Cloud resident was telephoned by a company claiming to be American Convention Group.

The caller advised the victim that she was going to secure her bank account due to a recent death of a spouse. The victim did provide her bank account number to the caller, however upon reading the paper and seeing the similar incident in

Benton County, the victim went to Bremer Bank and closed all accounts.

At this time officers are unable to proceed with any charges due to the false company name and phone number. Residents are advised to never give out any personal information over the phone.


St. Cloud Police: Residential Burglary

On 06/13/05 at 1905 hours officers with the St. Cloud Police Department were dispatched to a residence on Garfield Court for a burglary complaint.

Investigation revealed that the suspect gained entry through a porch window and gained access into the residence through an un1ocked door. A checkbook, money, and jewelry were taken in the burglary.

Sherburne County Sheriff: Mail Theft

The Sherburne County Sheriff's Department is seeking the public's assistance in identifying two suspects in connection with a mail theft and check forgery case. The checks were stolen from a mailbox on the
9700 block of 261st Ave. in Livonia Township. The information from the checks was used to make duplicate checks and to forge new checks. A driver's license, stolen from the mailbox of a residence in Prior Lake, has been used to pass the false checks.

St. Cloud Police: Business Burglary

On 5/11/05 at 0121 hours officers were dispatched to 2789 Clearwater Road for an alarm complaint. Upon arrival officers found forced entry to the business called TW Enterprises.

There were computers stolen from the business and a fax machine was damaged. At this time it is unknown the exact amount of property stolen. There was also property damage on scene.

St. Cloud Police: Arson

On 06/12/05 at approximately 0520 hours officers were dispatched to Vos Motors at 1850 7th Street North to investigate a vehicle fire. Upon arrival a SUV was partially engulfed in flames.

Evidence was collected at the scene and the report will be forwarded to the State Fire Marshall. The fire is believed to be the result of arson.  Damage is estimated as exceeding $10,000.
