for Week of August 1, 2005

Sartell Police: Burglary, Theft and Property Damage

Sartell Police were called to an apartment building at 815 10th Avenue No., in response to a burglary complaint. Upon arrival the manager showed officers the southeast door on the apt building. There were crowbar type pry marks in between the door and door frame.

In the main lobby, the Pepsi machine had been broken into. The coin/cash slot area had been partially broken out and pried apart. Approx $50-$53 had been stolen from the Pepsi machine along with the coin validator, which holds a certain amount of coins before dropping down into the coin container.

The manager stated that an undetermined amount of pop may have also been taken. He also stated that an apartment building in Sauk Rapids that he manages had its Pepsi machine broken into recently and the damage looked similar.

Sartell Police: Theft and Property Damage

On 7-26-05, Sartell Police responded to a theft report at Twin Rivers Tire and Auto, at 136 Twin Rivers Court. Someone had broken into the Pepsi machine sometime overnight. The Pepsi vending machine sits outside of the business on east side of the building.

The Pepsi machine had been pried open. It appeared that the coin/cash slots had been beaten by some sort of heavy object. The right side of the machine had been pried open approx eight inches. The coin basket was missing, but the cash holder was intact with "two $1.00 bills inside. The manager stated that someone from Bernick's had been at the business yesterday to restock the pop and collect the money. Whoever broke into the vending Machine probably didn't get much if anything.

Waite Park Police: Strong Arm Robbery (Update from week of July 18, 2005, on 8-3-05, case solved)

On Friday, July 15, 2005, the Waite Park Police Department responded to a robbery complaint which occurred on the Burlington Northern Railroad property in Waite Park. The victim was picked up in St. Cloud by two black males and two white females in a red car. The victim stated the driver drove to a parking lot off of 3rd Street N in Waite Park. He was then robbed by two black males, one who tried to put him into a sleeper type hold. The suspects took cash and a cellular phone.

The suspects are described as two black males in their late teens to early 20’s. The two females are described as in their mid teens.

Waite Park Police: Robbery (Update from week of July 18, 2005, on 8-3-05, case solved)

On March 11, 2005, the Waite Park Police Department was called in reference to an assault similar to the one described above. The victim stated he was walking home from a party in St. Cloud when he was picked up by two black males and two white females. The suspect vehicle is described as a dark red or maroon four door car. After driving around for a while the driver stopped the vehicle behind Kmart in Waite Park. While outside the vehicle the suspects assaulted the victim. The two black males then took the victim’s wallet and left the area.

The suspects were described as two black younger looking males approximately 5’6” to 5’11” in height. One suspect had corn rows and the other had black curly hair and was wearing a red puffy winter jacket. During the altercation the victim did rip the hood off of the red puffy jacket.

Stearns County Sheriff: 3 – Business Burglaries

The Stearns County Sheriff's Office is investigating three burglaries that occurred in the early morning hours on August 02, 2005.

At approximately 0324 Hours a alarm was received at Mathison Motors near Clearwater.  Entry was gained into the business.  Vandalism to a pop machine and several vehicles was also reported.

It was reported later this same date that Northgate Homes located near Mathison Motors had a theft of a GE stainless steel refrigerator. Vandalism to several model homes also occurred. This would have occurred between 6pm on August 1st to 8:40a.m., on August 2nd.

The third burglary occurred in the City of Greenwald. An alarm was reported at 0453 Hours at the Greenwald Pub.  Forcible entry and theft of charitable gambling proceeds occurred.

 St. Joseph Police: 2 – Arsons

St. Joseph police are looking for information about two fires early Tuesday at homes under construction. Police believe arson was the cause in both.

The first happened at 3:10 a.m. Tuesday at 704 First St. SW. The second was at 6:18 a.m. Tuesday at 205 Iverson St. W. The first home had extensive damage. The second fire was contained in the home's garage.

St. Cloud Police: Armed Robbery

On 07/17/05 at approximately 2116 hours officers were dispatched to 319 2nd Street South, JM Speedstop, in reference to a robbery.

Officers learned that the lone cashier, a 23-year old from St. Cloud, was robbed at gunpoint. The unknown suspect demanded cash and left with an undisclosed amount of cash.

The suspect is described as a white male, approximately 6'0" tall, 170 pounds; light build, in his early 20’s.

Officers are reviewing the video surveillance tape and the investigation continues.

St. Cloud Police: Aggravated Assault

Police met with two juvenile males ages twelve and fourteen at Burger King West. They allege two suspects pulled into Burger King West in their car. One juvenile alleges being hit in the back by the vehicle passenger. The other juvenile alleges being bit in the ankle by a golf club which the driver of the vehicle was carrying. Neither alleges that they were hurt nor requested any medical attention.

It is unknown who the suspects are and there is a limited description of their vehicle which was described as possibly a Mustang, two door, black in color, with a skull design on the back window. Officer released the juveniles who were advised to contact their parents.

St. Cloud Police: Business Burglary

On 07/29/05 at 0428 hours officers were dispatched to 4026 County Road 74 in reference to an alarm.

Further investigation revealed that the business bas been burglarized and an undisclosed amount of cash had been taken. Also, a pop machine was broken into and the money was missing from the pop machine.

Sibley County: Residential Burglary & Possible Abduction (Both suspects arrested, mother and children found safe)

On 8-1-2005 at 0700 hours, the Sibley County Sheriff was called to a residence on Grant Street in Winthrop, MN.

The suspect, Luis Humberto Gonzales broke into the residence and assaulted an adult male. He then threatened an adult female and ordered her and three children into his car. The suspect never said that he had a knife, but he is known to carry one. He then left with the woman and the children. The suspect is the father of the children. The children are a male age 9, female age 8 and a male age 6. The mother is a 29 year old Hispanic woman, 5’6” tall and weighing 135 pounds.

Luis Humberto Gonzales was born on 4-12-1971. He is Hispanic, 5’8” tall, weighs 170 pounds, has black hair, brown eyes and wears a mustache and goatee.

A second suspect was also involved. He is described as a 38 year old Hispanic male, 5’7” tall, 180 pounds, with black hair, brown eyes and light skin.

Information Update, 8-2-05, at 3:00 PM: It is now believed that the men are driving a 1988 Chrysler LeBaron, Maroon in color, with Minnesota license JSH837. It is possible that the vehicle may have a black bra on the front.
