St. Cloud Police: Business Burglary

On 08/25/0S at O5OO hours the St, Cloud Police were dispatched to Schmity's Superette located at 1522 3rd Street North for a burglary complaint.

Investigation revealed that the store bad been burglarized between 2235 hours on 08/24/05 and O5OO hours on 08/25/05. Approximately 30 cartons of cigarettes and $100 worth of cigars were taken.

St. Cloud Police: Suspicious Activity

At 1549 hours on 8-24-05, St. Cloud Police were notified of a suspicious activity incident which had occurred in the east parking lot at Wal-Mart.

A 1S year o1d female was approached by a dark skinned male in a white 4-door car. The male tried to call the female over to his car. When she tried to walk away, she dropped her keys and the male picked them up. He again tried to get her into his car. He eventually drove off and she ran into the store for help.

The incident occurred between Wal-Mart and the Miller Auto Plaza Store.

St. Cloud Police: Burglary and Vehicle Theft

On 08/24/05 at 0236 hours the St. Cloud Police Department was dispatched to a burglary and stolen vehicle complaint in the 400 block 7th Avenue South. The residents left the home on 08/23/05 at 2300 hours leaving the home unlocked. At 0215 hours on 08/24/05 the tenants returned and found that an unknown person(s) entered the unlocked residence, removed a set of car keys from a kitchen table and stole a motor vehicle which was parked in the driveway.

The motor vehicle is described as a 1991 Chevrolet Cavalier Z24. It bears Minnesota License BJW742. There were no other items missing from the residence and nobody was home at the time of the burglary.

St. Cloud Police: Robbery

On 08/22/05 at approximately 2100 hours officers were dispatched to the 400 block of East Lake Boulevard for a robbery.

Investigation revealed that the adult male victim of St. Cloud was riding a bike around Lake George when three white males approached, pushed the victim off his bike causing minor injuries, and stole some personal property. The males then fled from the area.

There was a delay by the victim in reporting the incident. Officers checked the area, but were unable to locate the suspects or any of the property that was stolen. The victim refused medical treatment. Due to the level of the victim’s intoxication he was unable to provide further information about the suspects or the exact area of the crime scene.

St. Cloud Police: Residential Burglary

On 8/20/05 at 1745 hours officers received a report of a burglary that occurred in the 1600 block of 10th Avenue South.

The burglary was believed to have happened on 8/20/05 sometime between 1230 hours and 1545 hours. Entry was gained into the residence via an open patio door. Once inside, the Suspects ransacked the residence and took numerous personal belongings; including electronics, beauty products, CD's, and a small refrigerator.

A neighbor did hear noise coming from the residence, which is now currently believed to be caused by the suspects. The neighbor further advised that there was a car parked in the driveway of the residence, which was described, as a 90's model, black, 2 door sports car.

Benton County Sheriff: Theft of Electrical Wire


On August 15, 2005, the Benton County Sheriff's Office received two reports of theft that occurred in Langola Township and the City of Rice.

Complainants reported the theft of approximately 1,850 and 1,250 feet of electrical type wire from irrigation systems. The wire is described as black in color, approximately one inch in diameter. The wire contains eleven copper wires enclosed in the black insulation.

St. Cloud Police: Business Burglary

At 0730 hours on 08/18/05 the owner of Stop Light Bait located at 45 8th Avenue Southeast, St. Cloud, discovered his business had been broken into sometime overnight.

The suspects did approximately $3,000 in damage while entering the business and took an undisclosed amount of cash.

St. Cloud Police: Attempted Telephone Fraud

On 8/18/0' St. Cloud Police to took a report from a senior citizen who lives at Carefree Living in regards to an attempted telephone fraud.

Investigation revealed that an unknown person claimed to offer the victim a $12,000 government grant and then proceeded to ask the victim for her checking account information.

The St. Cloud Police considers such phone calls suspicious and recommends that persons do not give any credit card or bank information over the phone to anyone they do not know.

St. Cloud Police: Business Burglary – Theft of Wire

On 08/17/05 officers were dispatched to Crescent Electric, 620 Apollo Avenue Northeast, for a burglary complaint.

The burglary occurred sometime after 1400 hours on 08/11/05. The unknown suspect/suspects gained entry by cutting through a chain length fence in the back of the business. The suspects removed approximately $1800 worth of copper wire, which was on reels.

Albany Police Department: Smash and Grab, Identity Theft

The Albany Police Department is asking for the public’s help in resolving a theft from vehicle incident that took place on 08/12/2005 at approximately 2130 hours where a window was smashed and a purse was taken. The vehicle was parked on Church Avenue by the Albany Golf Club. Inside of the purse was a Visa credit card, checkbook from Federal Employee Credit Union, personal keys, an ID card, and a nursing license.
Later that night, it was learned that the Visa credit card had been used at several businesses along I-94. The credit card was used at the Holiday Station in Albany, Smiley Gas Mart and First Stop in Freeport, Super America, Holiday Station, and Truckers Inn in Sauk Centre. New information reveals that one of the checks taken was used at an Applebee’s restaurant. There may be other credit card and check transactions that remain unknown at this time.

The Albany Police Department received surveillance pictures of a male and female who were using the credit card. The individuals are unknown to this department.
