St. Cloud Police: Counterfeit $100.00 bills

On 08/31/05 at approximately 1817 hours officers were dispatched to 380 33rd Avenue South for a counterfeit complaint.

Investigation revealed that an unknown male and an unknown female went into Wa1-Mart and purchased some items. The two parties used an undisc1osed amount of counterfeit $100.00 bills.

Evidence was collected at the scene. The Secret Service will be notified because of the issue of dealing with counterfeit currency.

St. Cloud Police: Theft from Vehicles and Vandalism

On 08/30/05 between 1710 and 1840 hours several vehicles were broken into on the north side of St. Cloud. All the vehicles had been parked unsecured near detached garages.

Property was taken from at least two of the vehicles reported, totaling over $4,000.

It is unknown exactly how many total vehicles were broken into during this timeframe. The addresses reported so far are in the 1100 block of 28th Avenue North, 1100 block of33rd Avenue North, and the 1000 block of 31st Avenue North.

St. Cloud Police: Residential Burglary

On 08/28/05 at approximately 1907 hours officers were dispatched to the 1500 block of 8th Avenue Southeast for a burglary. Investigation revealed that sometime between 1500 hours on 08/25/05 and 1800 hours on 08/28/05 someone entered an unoccupied residence by gaining forced entry through a window.

Inside the residence the unknown suspect ransacked a room and looked through other cupboards. Stolen from the residence was a digital camera, a necklace, and $350 in cash.

Benton County Sheriff: Business Burglary

On 8-29-05 at 0512 hours Benton County Dispatch was notified by an alarm company that an alarm had been tripped at Rumor's Bar and Grill located at 9530 Hemlock RD NW in Watab Township.

A Minnesota State Trooper was in the area and was on scene in approximately 1 minute.

Responding officers found that entrance into the establishment had been gained from a rear door. A search of the building found no suspects inside.

It was discovered that $1,200.00 was missing from two pull tab machines.

St. Cloud Police: Park Shelter Burglary and Theft

A shelter at Raymond Park, 320 Raymond Avenue NE, was broken into sometime between 2100 hours on 8-28-05 and 1445 hours on 8-29-05. Several doors were damaged and an undetermined amount of currency was taken from the safe inside the office.

St. Cloud Police: Attempted Phone Fraud

On 08/25/05 St. Cloud Police took a report from a citizen in the 400 block of 15th Avenue Southeast in reference to a suspicious phone call. Two unknown persons with possib1e Middle Eastern accents had spoken to the victim and claimed that he won an $800 government grant for paying his taxes on time. The suspicious males said that they represented U.S. Bank and they asked for the victim's checking account and address information.

St. Cloud Police are investigating and this appears to be a suspicious attempt to obtain people's bank or credit card information. The victim called U.S. Bank who denied any similar program and U.S. Bank said that there were other victims reporting this suspicious activity.

All community members are requested to never give personal bank or credit card information over the phone to people they do not know.

Stearns County Sheriff: Residential Burglary and Vandalism

On 8/10/05, the SCSO received a burglary report.  Unknown persons had entered to new vacant home on 6th St NW in the City of Richmond.  The home had just been shown, with an open house on 8/7.  Entry had been gained by prying open a door, once inside suspects spray painted cabinets, and appliances, and turned the water on to several sinks and tubs.  Significant water damage was seen, and a rough estimate would put damage repair costs around $30,000.  Deputies noticed bicycle tracks on a nearby trail.

Avon Police: Felony Theft of Sculptures

(Update 8-29-2005) A witness reported seeing a rough looking grey pickup truck, similar to an S-10, regular cab, turning onto I-94 from County Rd 9 in Avon at 9:50 PM on Wednesday, 8-24-05. The truck was occupied by two males in their mid 20’s. The two Palm Trees, list # 10 and 11, were in the back.

The Avon Police are investigating the theft of sculptures from Sculpture Gallery and Crafts, 100 CO Rd 50, in Avon. The thefts occurred sometime between 8:00 PM on 08-24-2005, and 2:00 pm on 08-25-2005.

The following is a scaled down item description. The Photographs are numbered according to this list.

(1) -small crawling bear cub sculpture carved in white pine. Approx. 25-30 lbs - value $450.00

(2). A 71/2 foot cigar Indian carved in white pine. Approx. 300-400 lbs - value $3500.00

This sculpture was stained with a cherry stain and finished with spar varnish.
This sculpture had some blemishes on the rear of the head dress.

(3) -a 6ft bear with a bib carved in white pine. Approx. 200 lbs - value $1200.00
This bear is standing on its left foot only and is holding its right paw up.

(4) - a 5ft standing cartoon bear carved in white pine. Approx. 200 lbs - value $950.00
This bear is waving with its right paw and finished with spar varnish.

(5) - a 6ft tall bear wearing bibs holding a bass with both paws carved in white pine.
Approx. 300 lbs - value $1950.00 this bear also has a fishing basket and a green hornet fishing pole. The nose of this bear is slanted upward. This bear is finished with sikkens stain.
This bear also had worm holes on the back of its right shoulder which were filled with Caulking.

(6) - a 6ft tall skinny bear wearing blue bibs, holding a welcome sign with both paws carved in white pine. Approx. 200 lbs - value $1450.00
This bear has a smile on its face and is finished with spar varnish. This bear also is an older carving and is start to rot and look weathered.

(7) - a 6ft tall grizzly bear holding a fish with its left paw carved in white pine. Approx. 300+ lbs value $1850.00
This bear is torched and finished with spar varnish.

(8) - A 5 to 5 1/2 ft bald eagle on top of a stone with a fish in its right talon carved in white oak. Approx. 200 lbs - value $4900.00
This eagle is torched and finished with spar varnish.

(9) -a 5 ft tall fat bear wearing a bib carved in white pine. Approx. 200 lbs - value $1300.00
This bear has both of its paws folded in holding a welcome sign. This bear was finished with Sikkens stain. The photograph of this bear is currently unavailable.

(10) - a 10 ft neon lighted palm tree with yellow stems and green leaves. - value $690.00
The paint around these holes should be chipped.

(11) - a 12 ft neon lighted palm tree with yellow stems and green leaves. Value $750.00

The total amount of theft related to this case is $18,990.00.

There are no known suspects at this time and this case remains under investigation.
