for Week of August 8, 2005

Benton County Sheriff: Business Burglary

On Tuesday, August 9th, at approximately 6:55 am, the Benton County Sheriff's Office received a report of a nighttime burglary at the Territory Golf Club, 480 55th Av. SE, St. Cloud. The responding Deputy found an outside pop machine had been broken into and the cash box emptied. A glass door to the Pro Shop was smashed and the unknown suspect( s) gained entry into the building, taking two empty cash drawers. The amount of the loss from the pop machine, and the damages are not known at this time. No other items were stolen from the business.

Benton County Sheriff: Business Burglary

At approximately 9:00 am Mike's Archery Center reported that the business was burglarized some time over night. Mike's Archery is located at 1646 Hwy 23 NE, St. Cloud. The responding Deputy found a door had been forced open. Once inside the suspect(s) pried open the cash register and stole a small amount of cash. Damage to the business is estimated at $1,000.00.

St. Cloud Police: Business Burglary

On 08/09/05 at approximately 1701 hours officers were dispatched to the Granite Bowl, 1740 West St. Germain Street for a burglary.

Investigation revealed that employees noticed money on the ground in the office area. In looking in the cabinet where the money was stored it was revealed that someone had gone in and stole $3,200 in a variety of bills out of the cabinet by using a pry tool to pry their way into the cabinet. It is believed that the crime occurred between the hours of 1310 and 1700 hours on August 9th.

St. Cloud Police: Business Burglary

St. Cloud police are investigating a burglary that happened at 0419 hours on Tuesday, August 9th, at Clemens Gardens Gift Shop, 1399 Kilian Blvd. SE.

Someone broke a glass door, damaged flowers and took an empty cash drawer, police said. A pop machine also was broken into and an unknown amount of money was taken.

The store manager estimated that the damage done to the door and register could cost up to $5,000.

Stearns County Sheriff: Residential Burglary

On 7/25/05, the SCSO received a report of a burglary to a garage in the 38000 block of Tree House Lane in Holding Twp.  Unknown how entry was gained as the building was secure.  Stolen during the burglary were the following items:
* Red Murray 10hp riding mower
* RCA VCR
* 19” Zenith color TV
* Makita skill saw
* Makita reciprocating saw
* toolbox w/assorted tools

Stearns County Sheriff: 3 Residential Burglaries
:
Forced entry was made into a residence on Old Hwy South, St. Joe Twp. Stolen was a .22 bolt action rifle. This occurred between August 02, and August 04, 2005.

Second report was also made on Aug 04, 2005 from a residence on Hwy 22 in Eden Lake Twp. Stolen was alcohol and stereo equipment from vehicles on the property. This same residence reported a burglary two weeks prior where $2000.00 was taken.

On 7/3/2005, at approximately 0002 hours, a Stearns County Deputy was flagged down by an individual who wanted to report a theft. The victim said between 10/2004, and 5/28/2005, someone took items from Lot 51 at AJ Acres. He owns Lot 51. He said a 1990 Mercury 15-horse boat motor, worth approximately $1,000, a Maculla chain saw, worth approximately $180, a Daisy pellet gun, worth $50, a trolling motor, unknown brand, worth approximately $250, and a depth finder worth approximately $100 were taken from the lot.

Stearns County Sheriff: Attempted Burglary

On 8/3/05 deputies took a report of an attempted burglary on CR 138 east of Rockville.  The reporting person said she had been home alone when an adult male rang the doorbell.  She didn’t recognize him so didn’t answer the door.  The man went back to his car and waited a few minutes, then returned to the door and forced entry.  She confronted the burglar who jumped in his car and fled. 

The car was described as a “boxy” style sedan, faded light blue paint.  The burglar was described as a male in his 50’s, clean shaven, glasses.  When confronted the suspect said he was looking for Schaefer’s because he needed to fix their water heater.
