for Week of January 8, 2007

Albany Police: Thefts from Vehicles or Vandalism to Vehicles

Albany Police Department and the Avon Police Department have had a rash of car break ins complaints filed since 9/6/06 thru today’s date.

1. September 6 thefts were reported to the Albany Police Department of numerous vehicles were entered and items taken from vehicle such as checkbooks, CDs Lap top computers, credit cards and many other forms of Identification. All of the vehicles that were entered were parked on or near Forest Avenue from Fifth Street to 11th Street; five vehicles were entered at that time.

2. We took another report on 10/28 from an owner who had his vehicle parked on Railroad Avenue.

3. Another report taken on 10/29 of an owner who had his vehicle parked at the Albany Bowling Center.

4. December 4th two owners reported their vehicles were parked in the Albany Hospital parking lot between 8:00 pm and 9:00 pm and someone entered their vehicles and stole purses and wallets and all contents inside.

5. On December 23 an owner reported while his vehicle was parked at 141 12th St someone through a rock through his vehicles window and removed CD player.

6. On December 30 owner reported while their vehicle was parked on 411 Midland Avenue someone entered their vehicle and removed items.

7. On January 1, 2007 owner reports while she was at work at Mother of Mercy Manor someone went through her vehicle while it was in the lot.

8. On January 4, 2007 while owner was at the Hospital someone through a rock through window of their car and removed two purses and all contents with in.

Avon Police: Thefts from Vehicles or Vandalism to Vehicles

The Avon police Department are having similar incidents occurring in their City as well and we feel they are all related and similar in nature to the Albany incidents. All of these incidents seem to be occurring at night. Albany Police Department is offering a $500.00 reward for information leading to the arrest and or convictions of persons responsible for these thefts.

Sartell Police: 3 – Case Summaries

Wednesday, January 3

2:50 p.m. Theft, 600 blk Heritage Drive. A black, orange and green 1998 Arctic Cat ZL500 snowmobile was stolen from unlocked garage.

Friday, January 5

12:24 a.m. Theft, Gold's Gym. An unlocked locker was entered and a wallet, key ring and watch were stolen.

Sunday, January 7

3:04 p.m. Vandalism to vehicle, 400 block 2nd St N. Rear window was smashed.

St. Cloud Police: Scam Alert

The St. Cloud Police Department is warning citizens to be aware of a scam in which parties respond to want ads in the local papers and receive a cashier's check by mail for an amount of money that is considerably more than what they were supposed to receive.

They are then asked to deposit the cashier's check in their account and forward the remaining money to a different account. In these cases the cashier's check is fraudulent.

St. Cloud Police: Robbery

On 01/09/07 officer' were dispatched to a victim's residence in reference to a robbery that occurred in the early morning hours of 01/09/07 in the 700 block of 15th Avenue Southeast.

The victim advised that she was physically attacked by two black males in their late teens to early twenties.

The victim indicated they took her purse before she was able escape.
