Crime Stoppers Open Cases for Week of November 19, 2007

St. Cloud Police: Residential Burglary with Injuries

On 11/19/07 at 1907 hours officers were dispatched to the 800 block of Pebble Creek Drive for a residential burglary in progress. Officers met with two victims, a 16 year old male and a 44 year old male, both of St. Cloud. The victims explained that they had come home to two individuals in their residence in the process of taking items from the house. The suspects had entered the residence by forcing open an exterior door. The two victims confronted the burglars and a physical altercation ensued.

One of the suspects described as a white male in his early 20's approximately 5'lO” with a medium build and a blonde beard ran away. The second suspect described as a dark complected male, unknown race, in his early 20s, approximately 5’7", with a heavier build, dark short hair and a goatee received possible injuries during the struggle, including a cut to the left temple area.
This suspect also left behind numerous clothing articles, which were lost during the struggle and was seen running from the area wearing only a T-shirt, boxer type underwear and no shoes.

With the assistance of Waite Park Police Department and the Stearns County Sheriff’s Department, two dog tracks were attempted, both leading in a northeasterly direction and ending on an adjacent street where it is believed the suspects possibly entered a vehicle. Also assisting in the investigation was the Minnesota State Patrol.

Both victims were transported to the St. Cloud Hospital and treated and released for non-life threatening injuries resulting from the altercation with the suspect.

The suspects may have been in the neighborhood prior to the burglary either walking and/or on bicycle. Anyone with information regarding this investigation is encouraged to contact the St. Cloud Police Department at 320-251-1200 or Crime Stoppers at 320-25S-130l.

St. Cloud Police: Business Robbery

On ll/l8/07 at approximately 2021 hours officers were dispatched to the JM Speedstop at the corner of 25th Avenue South and 2nd Street in reference to a robbery.

The investigation revealed that a white male approximately 16 to 20 years of age. standing approximately 5'9" with a medium build, wearing a ski type mask, altered the business, directed the clerk to get back, and then removed a box of pull tabs off the counter and fled southbound on foot. No weapons were displayed in this incident. A canine track met with negative results.

St. Cloud Police: Business Burglary, Criminal Damage to Property and Theft

On 11/19/07 at approximately 0256 hours, officers responded to the 10 block of 32nd Avenue South for 8 property damage report. Investigation revealed that the southeast door of a business had been forced into by breaking the glass. Officers entered the building and found no one inside.

Unknown suspects entered the business and caused large amount of damage, stole cash, checks, and two printers.

Waite Park Police: Assault

Officers responded to a report of an assault at Olive Garden. The victim stated a black male in his late teens or early 20's, wearing a dark green parka and jeans ran up behind her and punched her in the back of the head. The male then ran off with 4 other black males. The victim suffered minor injuries. The suspect has not been located.

Sartell Police: 9 – Case Summaries


Monday, November 12

9:55 a.m. Criminal damage, 400 block of Pheasant Drive. Homeowner reported that suspect(s) cut the screen on a window and tried to enter the residence. Suspect(s) did not gain entry into the home. Police are investigating.

Tuesday, November 13

4:30 p.m. Suspicious activity, Pinetree Court. Female reported that while she was out walking at 5:30 a.m., she saw an SUV parked along the roadway. As she walked down the road, the SUV started to follow her. The male driver of the SUV rolled down the window and asked the female how she was doing. The female quickly walked away and the SUV drove off.

Wednesday, November 14

7:01 a.m. Criminal damage, 800 block of 10th Street south. Mailbox was damaged.

Thursday, November 15

7:59 p.m. Suspicious activity, 600 block of Huntington Drive. Caller reported a suspicious young male, smoking and pushing a stroller with a child in it. The caller thought it was suspicious because it was dark and cold out and thought it was strange. After receiving the complaint, officers drove around the area and could not locate anyone in the area pushing a stroller.

Friday, November 16

7:08 a.m. Theft from vehicle, 1500 block of Pine siskin Avenue. An unlocked truck was entered while it was parked overnight on the street. A Kenwood CD player was removed from the dashboard and a spare key for the truck were stolen.

8:20 a.m. Criminal damage and theft, south of 17th Street South. Construction worker reported that a window on his pickup was broken and a digital camera, a Gander Mountain utility knife and a small package of Sudafed were stolen. Suspect(s) also vandalized the vehicle with white spray paint.

Sunday, November 18

8:21 a.m. Criminal damage and theft, 2300 block of Troop Drive. The driver’s side window on a truck was smashed overnight and items inside the truck were strewn about. Suspect(s) also cut off the padlock to a trailer attached to the truck. Among the items stolen were a computer and two nailers.

11:41 a.m. Criminal damage, 200 block of 3rd Avenue North. Vehicle tire was slashed while it was parked in the owner’s driveway.

8:52 p.m. Criminal damage, Sartell Middle School. Seven panels of the fence behind the school had been cut with what appeared to be a wire cutter.

St. Cloud Police: Bias Motivated Property Damage

On 11/16/07 at approximately 1703 hours officers were dispatched to 651 1st, Avenue South. Atwood Memorial Center, for a bias-motivated property damage.

Upon arrival officers learned that two swastikas had been scratched into the wall of a computer lab and into a stall wall in a bathroom; both located in the Multicultural Office.

The swastikas would have been placed on the walls between 11/13/07 and 11/15/07.

St. Cloud Police: Attempted Theft – Hydraulic Oil


The EPA and St. Cloud Fire Department have been investigating and attempting to detain hydraulic oil that had spilled sometime overnight from Phillip's Recycling.

At 1515 hours on 11-15-07, the St. Cloud Police Department has been asked to investigate whether the spill was an act of vandalism or attempted theft. The case is currently being investigated for either one of these events by the St. Cloud Police.

Avon Police and MN Bureau of Criminal Apprehension: Crime Alert (From week of November 12, 2007)

Type of Incident: Hit and Run Property Damage Date / Time Occurred: 11-11-2007 // Apprx 04:30 AM
Incident Location: 101 Stratford St W, Avon MN 56310

Details of Incident:
Hit and run occurred – property damage only. Officer arrived and observed that a silver Dodge Durango was struck by an unknown vehicle that was heading westbound on Stratford St W. The Durango was hit with enough force to push the back end of the Durango over into another vehicle. Witness described a vehicle leaving the area that had a passenger head light that was not operational, unknown color of the vehicle, however witness described the vehicle as a possible 4 door passenger car, unknown number of occupants. Left at the scene were pieces of a head light assembly that are believed to be from an early 90’s to a later model vehicle; approximately a foot long piece of the suspected vehicle which shows a maroon or burgundy color (see pictures). The silver Durango had paint transfer on the passenger side on two separate areas which were reddish in color, and the lower area of the passenger door there are black transfer marks possibly from a bumper. The suspect vehicle should have significant damage to the front or the right front of the vehicle.
