Create CommUNITY: Bias/Hate Crimes Reward Offer

Create CommUNITY is offering a reward of up to $1,000 for information on unsolved bias/hate crimes in the tri-county area. This information must lead to an arrest and/or formal charging of the person or persons responsible for committing the bias/hate crimes.

Tri-County Crime Stoppers is coordinating the processing of tips, protecting the anonymity of the tipster and the payment of any rewards.

Sartell Police: 3 – Case Summaries

Thursday, December 13

4:54 p.m. Burglary and theft, 2200 block of Troop Drive. Garage was entered and the following items were taken: Delta 12” compound miter saw, trim blade, and a DeWalt reciprocating saw.

Friday, December 14

7:36 a.m. Vandalism, 400 block of 5th Avenue South. House was egged.

Saturday, December 15

6:12 a.m. Criminal damage, 400 block of 4th Street North. Outside mirrors were broken off a vehicle that was parked in the driveway.

Stearns County Sheriff: Theft from Vehicle and Theft by Credit Card

On 12/7, the SCSO received a report of a car break in at Powder Ridge Ski area.  A 1997 Pontiac had been broken into, a purse and a “Super Talent” MP 3 player were stolen. 

The suspects in the crime used a stolen VISA card from the purse to access the cash machine at Lux Shell Station at Hwy 15 and Cr 136.  Two withdrawals were made.  The suspects attempted to use the VISA again at Clearwater Travel Plaza but it had been cancelled already. 

One of the suspects was described as a younger male, about 5-10 with red hair.  The suspect’s car was captured on video and is a maroon or red two door Ford Thunderbird or Mercury Cougar, model year 94-96.  Persons with information are asked to contact Crime Stoppers.

St. Cloud Police: Residential Burglary and Theft

On 12/19/07 at 1332 hours officers were dispatched to the 400 block of Wilson Avenue Southeast for a burglary complaint. Investigation found that unknown suspect(s) entered the home sometime over the weekend and stole approximately $700 worth of video game systems and accessories. The investigation is ongoing.

St. Cloud Police: Felony Theft from a Vehicle

On 12/19/07 at approximately 2040 hours, officers responded to a theft from vehicle complaint in the 600 block of 11th Street South. It was reported to officers that over $2,300 in property had been stolen from inside the vehicle.

There was no sign of forced entry and the investigation is ongoing.

The St. Cloud Police Department would like to remind citizens not to leave valuables inside their vehicles.

St. Cloud Police: Residential Burglary and Theft

On 12/16/07 at approximately 0019 hours officers were dispatched to the 1000 block of 6th Avenue South for a burglary complaint.

The unlocked residence which was a college rental home was entered by an unknown person(s) sometime between 2300 and 2400 hours on this date. Once inside severa1 locked bedroom doors were forced open and miscellaneous electronic equipment was stolen.

Waite Park Police: Hit and Run

On 12/15/07 at 1423 hours, a Stearns County Explorer Scout was directing Holiday Traffic by Macy's when a white Ford 4-door pick-up with dually wheels with large side mirrors and some type of a blue colored sticker on the passenger side struck her from behind from the east and turned left and exited the mall on 3rd Street traveling eastbound and was last seen turning northbound on Highway 15.

The Explorer Scout was treated and released for minor injuries.

The Waite Park Police Department is asking the public for help in identifying the vehicle and driver. Please call 320-251-3281 or Crime Stoppers at 255-1301 with any information.

St. Cloud Police: Robbery

On 12/15/07 at approximately 1726 hours officers were dispatched to a robbery that had just occurred at Ashland Mart, 1220 32nd Avenue North.

The investigation revealed that an unknown white male wearing a black ski mask had entered the store and went directly to the counter area where he removed two pull tab boxes. The suspect left the store with the pull tab boxes after threatening the employees to not follow him.

With the assistance of several Minnesota State Patrol Troopers, Stearns County Sheriffs Department Deputies, and a Stearns County Sheriffs Department K-9 the area was searched with negative results.

This robbery came less than a month after a similar incident at the JM Speedstop on 2nd Street South.
