Crime Stoppers Open Cases for Week of July 23, 2007

St. Cloud Police: Business Burglary and Theft

On 07/25/07 at approximately 0902 hours officers were dispatched to 2227 Roosevelt Road in reference to a burglary. A suspect entered the St. Cloud Animal Shelter forcing their way through the back door. Once inside the suspect removed a male intact brindle pitbull, brown in color. Police made contact with the owner of the pitbull, who reported not knowing anything about the burglary or the missing dog.

The pitbull was seized by the Animal Shelter because of no license, failure to update vaccinations, and its aggressive, dangerous behavior.

Tuesday, July 17

8:25 p.m. Vandalism, 100 block of 14th Ave E. Realty sign and fire hydrant were hit by paintballs.

Friday, July 20

5:06 a.m. Criminal damage, 1000 block of 2nd St S. Windows were smashed at two businesses. Police are investigating.

11:18 a.m. Criminal damage, 200 block of Pine Cone Rd S. Front glass window of business was smashed.

8:15 p.m. Theft, 700 block of 7th St N. Weather vane (with a deer or elk figure on top) was stolen from homeowner’s yard.

Sunday, July 22

8:52 p.m. Criminal damage, 400 block of 19th Ave N. Homeowner found a BB hole in a window.

Waite Park Police: 2 - Stolen Vehicles (Both cases)

Waite Park Police Department is investigating two stolen vehicle complaints from the Holiday Station in Waite Park next to Cash Wise Foods. The first one happened on Friday, July 13th when a female called in reporting that she left her vehicle running and ran in to the store to purchase some items. When she came out of the store her vehicle was gone. The vehicle was later recovered in Minneapolis.

On Thursday July 19th at about 4:00 pm the Waite Park Police Department received another call of a stolen vehicle from Holiday. The female owner of the vehicle pumped gas and went inside to pay for it. She left the keys in the vehicle. When she returned her vehicle was gone. There was a wedding dress and two bridesmaid dresses and a saddle inside the vehicle. The vehicle is a 1999 Chevrolet Lumina gold in color bearing MN license UNG 547. The vehicle was last seen in Monticello where it was used in a theft at Kmart. This was approximately one hour after it was taken from Waite Park.

The suspect is described as a black male, 6’ 2”, 210 lbs with a short afro hair style.

Please lock your vehicles and do not leave valuables or keys in the vehicle. Also report any suspicious activity or people who appear to be casing or just hanging out.

Stearns County Sheriff: Criminal Damage to Property with Pipe Bomb

On 7/13/07, the SCSO received a report of a homemade pipe bomb put into a mailbox of a private home just west of Sartell.  The device was detonated but caused little damage to the mailbox. The device was made out of a small brass pipe and filled with some type of explosive powder.  Persons with information are asked to contact Crime Stoppers.  The US Postal Inspection Service is also offering a $1000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the persons responsible.   
 
Stearns County Sheriff: Theft from Vehicle and Vandalism

On 7-9-07 deputies took a theft from vehicle and vehicle vandalism complaint at 2nd street and Central Ave. in Brooten.  This occurred between 1500-2300 hrs.  Someone broke the back window on a 4 door truck. Stolen: were a Dewalt radio with battery charger and battery in it and a Dewalt rotary laser with battery in it from inside truck. Stolen from truck bed was a Dewalt tripod stand and grade pole. The items have the owners initials etched in them.

On 7-3-07 deputies responded to a theft from a semi flat bed parked next to a storage shed at 32502 CR 65 in Melrose Twp.  The theft occurred between 06-03-07 and 07-03-07. 
Stolen:
               2 black lumber tarps      24ft long x 26ft wide
               2 black steel tarps         24ft long x 16ft wide
               22 yellow nylon tie down straps w/black hooks  (Kinedyne brand)

St. Cloud Police: Felony Assault and Aggravated Robbery

On 07/20/01 at approximately 0259 hours a Stearns County deputy was flagged down by a victim of an assault that had occurred on University Bridge. A 31-year-old male victim of Mora was walking on University Bridge when four black male juveniles and one white male juvenile circled around him. The white male juvenile struck the victim once in the back of the head with a metal pole and also struck him a second time which broke the victim's hand. The two strikes rendered the victim unconscious at which time the suspects stole approximately $60.00 in cash from the victim's pockets and ran off west bound on University Drive.

The victim ultimately flagged down a vehicle who notified a Stearns County deputy that was in the area. The Stearns County deputy remained with the victim until St. Cloud police officers arrived. The victim was transported by Gold Cross ambulance to the St. Cloud Hospital for substantial but non life threatening injuries.

Officers obtained suspect information and with the assistance of GSSC Security the suspects were located and arrested. The primary aggressor is being held for court on felony aggravated robbery, felony 3rd degree assault, and juvenile curfew violation.

The four black male juveniles were all identified and questioned and charges will be reviewed by the Stearns County Attorney.

Gold Cross Ambulance, Steams County Sheriffs Office, and GSSC Security assisted the Police Department in this investigation. It is believed that there may be witnesses to this incident and if anyone has any further information please contact the St. Cloud Police Department at (320) 251-1200, or Crime Stoppers.

St. Cloud Police: Armed Robbery  (From week of July 16, 2007)

On 07/17/07 at approximately 2156 hours officers were dispatched to Gary's Pizza, located at 2848 2nd Street South, on a robbery. Investigation revealed that a male entered the business, brandished a silver colored handgun, and demanded the cash.

A suspect is described as a Hispanic male, early to mid-twenties, 5'6" to 5'8" in height, medium build. The suspect was seen wearing a brown button-down shirt, a tall hat, with a dark complexion. The suspect left in a silver in color vehicle, similar to that of a newer Pontiac G6 type vehicle. The investigation is ongoing.

Elk River Police: Aggravated Assault with Injuries  (From week of July 9, 2007)

On 7-10-07 at 1: 36 am~ Officers from the Elk River Police Department responded to a burglary in progress at a residence located at 19806 Rush Street. The initial call was that the lone suspect was known to the homeowner and that an ambulance was needed for unknown injuries to someone inside the house.

On arrival officers found that the 26 year old female victim had been asleep in her bedroom when she awoke to see her ex-boyfriend, ROBERT JOSHUA SHAW, DOB/5-24-80 standing over her bed. The victim stood up and she was attacked by Shaw, who stabbed her multiple times. The victim suffered non-fatal wounds to her head, face, chest and arms. The suspect fled the residence when he was confronted by other occupants of the home.

Police later learned that the suspect had been driven to the residence where after he was dropped off, he broke into the home through a basement window, entered the bedroom and attacked the victim. The victim resides in the residence with her parents, ages 47 and 46, and two small children.

The victim was transported to a local hospital where she was treated for her wounds. Elk River Police with the assistance of several metro police departments have been checking addresses for the suspect, but at this time he is still at large, and should be considered armed and dangerous.

Special Request from the Meeker County Sheriff: 2 Armed Robberies   (From week of July 9, 2007)

 

The Meeker County Sheriff’s 0ffice is asking for the public's assistance in identifying this individual.

On June 8, 2007 at 9;13 p.m., Mike's Standard in Eden Valley, MN was robbed at gunpoint by a Hispanic male. The suspect is in his med 20’s, 5’8” to 5’10”, wearing baggy blue jeans, a white bandana over his face, and a black hat. The suspect produced a silver semiautomatic handgun during the robbery and stated something to the effect “he had a family to feed”. The suspect forced the clerk into the back room while he fled.

On July 4, 2007 at 1025am, Roger’s Liquor Store in Grove City, MN was robbed at gunpoint by a Hispanic male. The suspect was in his mid 20’s, 5’8” to 5’10”, 150-160 pounds, dark short hair, and brown eyes with very bushy eyebrows. The suspect was wearing a brown zip up long sleeve shirt and faded blue jeans, along with a yellow bandana over his face. The suspect produced a silver semiautomatic handgun during the robbery and made a similar statement to the clerk reference “he had a family to feed”. The suspect then fled, unknown direction or mode of travel.
