for Week of August 20, 2007
St. Cloud Police: E-mail Scam
On 08/21/07 at approximately 0900 hours a victim reported to the St. Cloud
Police Department that over the course of the past two weeks she had been
the victim of an e-mail scam.
The victim advised that the perpetrator would send her fraudulent money
orders which she was expected to place into her bank account and before
the money orders cleared, she was expected to wire money to countries in
Africa. She wired a total of approximately $5,000.
Police are asking the public to aware of these e-mail scams.
St. Cloud Police: Residential Burglary and Theft
On 08/22/07 at approximately 1736 hours officers were dispatched to 1000
block of St. Germain Street East in reference to a burglary complaint.
Investigation revealed that an unknown individual(s) had gained entry into
the apartment through an unlocked and open window.
The suspect then stole several pieces of electronics and also checks.
Sartell Police: 2 – Case Summaries
Monday, August 13
8:55 a.m. Criminal damage, 600 block of 2 ½ Street North. Mailbox was
struck by a vehicle. Homeowner observed a smaller red truck with wood in
the back driving from the scene.
Tuesday, August 14
1:06 a.m. Theft, Winners Bar. A female reported that while she was at the
bar, her purse was stolen.
St. Cloud Police: Simple Robbery
and Assault
On 08/l7/07 at approximately 0238 hours officers were dispatched to a
robbery that had occurred at 1st Street North and 15th Avenue North. A 28
year old female victim of St. Cloud flagged down officers at that location
and reported being robbed by a black male suspect. The female victim
reported being choked and grabbed in the chest before the suspect took her
purse and cell phone and left in an unknown direction. Officers checked
the area, but were unable to locate anyone matching the suspect's
description.
The black male suspect was described as being 23-26 years old. 5'6” tall,
average build and very short, slightly curly hair. The male was wearing a
short sleeved cream-colored button-up shirt, with 8 red and blue
pin-stripe plaid design and dark shoes. The victim had no apparent
injuries and declined any medical treatment.
