Crime Stoppers Open Cases for Week of September 24, 2007

Stearns County Sheriff: Criminal Damage to Property

     

On 9/24/07, the SCSO received a damage to property report. The damage took place off 325th St in St. Wendel Twp. Unknown person or persons started up a large haulage truck and drove it into a barn, causing extensive damage to the truck and barn.  Damage’s are expected to be in the tens of thousand of dollars.  A noise report had also been received during the early morning of Sunday, September 23rd, coinciding with the damage found the morning of 9/24.  It is believed the damage occurred early Sunday morning, about 1:30am.  Persons with information are asked to contact Crime Stoppers.
 
St. Cloud Police: Armed Robbery, Shots Fired, Minor Injuries

Update: Suspect Arrested

As of 09/19/07 at 2100 hours, the St. Cloud Police Department has developed probable cause for the arrest of suspect Justin Christopher Mitchell, DOB: 05/05/85, for this alleged offense.

Mitchell is described as a black male, 5'10", 172 pounds, with brown eyes and short dark hair. Mitchell has no permanent address at this time. Police also believe they have recovered the weapon involved in this incident.

Because of the violent nature of this crime, the suspect, Mitchell, should be considered dangerous.

On 09/17/07 at approximately 2052 hours officers were dispatched to an armed robbery that had occurred at Gas It For Less at 3429 3rd Street North.

Investigation revealed that a black male approximately 18 to 20 years old, approximately 5'11" to 6'2" and approximately 190 pounds, with a shaved head, bushy eyebrows, and possibly a small pencil moustache, wearing a hoodie, blue jeans, and white tennis shoos, had attempted to rob the store at gunpoint. Shots were fired in the store and the 26 year old employee fought off the robber receiving minor injuries.

The suspect fled the area prior to officer’s arrival. A perimeter was set up and the area was checked with the assistance of Minnesota State Patrol and a bloodhound from the Steams County Sheriff’s Department.

Waite Park Police: 6 – Burglaries and Thefts

Waite Park Police Department is investigating six burglaries that occurred over the weekend. The first was reported to police on Sunday morning, Sept 23rd from the Wild Bird Center, 103 Division Street W. A window was broken and some items were taken. We are still gathering a list of stolen items.

The second was also reported on Sun Sept 23rd and occurred at Play It, 713 2nd Street S. Forced entry was used to gain access to the business and an undisclosed amount of cash and some business checks were taken from the business.

The third burglary was reported Mon Sept 24th and occurred at Granite City Cycle and Sport, 47 3rd NE. A window was smashed to gain entry, but nothing appears to be missing.

The fourth burglary was reported on Mon Sept 24th and occurred at Face Logic, 643 2nd Street S. Forced entry was used to obtain access to the business and an undisclosed amount of cash was reported missing.

The fifth burglary was reported on Mon Sept 24th and occurred at Good Feet, 719 2nd Street S. Forced entry was used to obtain access to the business and an undisclosed amount of cash was reported missing.

The sixth burglary was reported on Mon Sept 24th and occurred at Inspired Trends, 701 2nd Street S. Forced entry was used to obtain access to the business and an undisclosed amount of cash was reported missing.

Waite Park Police: 2 – Attempted Burglaries and Thefts

Waite Park Police Department is also investigating two attempted burglaries at Rebecca’s Amish Furniture located at 1313 2nd Street S and Camille’s Sidewalk Café located at 601 2nd Street S. In both cases, it appears someone attempted to pry open a door, but did not gain access.

Waite Park Police: 2 – Criminal Damage to Property

Waite Park Police Department is investigating two damage to property complaints that occurred in the 600 and 700 blocks of 2nd Street S. It appears that someone gained access by forced entry, but gained access into two empty office spaces.

St. Cloud Police: 1st Degree Burglary with Weapon and Theft


On 09/22/07 at 0154 hours officers were dispatched to investigate a burglary that had occurred in the 100 block of 3rd Avenue Northeast.

The victim indicated that two males entered her apartment waving a box cutter and left taking money and miscellaneous items from her apartment.

Suspect #1 is described as a white male with light colored hair and in his early twenties. He would be around 6'0" tall with an average build and pierced ears and was wearing a white T-shirt and jeans. He also had a very thin beard that extended from ear to ear under his chin.

Suspect #2 is a white male who goes by the name of Jay or Jake and has dark hair. He is in his early twenties and is approximately 6'0" tall with an average build and pierced ears. Suspect #2 was wearing a Columbia jacket and blue jeans.

Anyone with information about the burglary is encouraged to call the police department at 251-1200 or Crime Stoppers at 255-1301.

Stearns County Sheriff: Vehicle Vandalism and Theft

On 9/2/07, the SCSO received reports of vandalism to four vehicles in the City of Freeport.  During the night unknown person or persons “keyed” four cars parked at private homes in the city.  Persons with information are asked to contact Crime Stoppers.

On 9/18/07, the SCSO received a report of property stolen from 3 vehicles.  The cars were parked at a private home on Belmont Road in Maine Prairie Twp.  A Pioneer CD player and about 100’cds were stolen from the cars.  The cars had been unlocked during the night.  Persons with info are asked to contact Crime Stoppers.

Stearns County Sheriff: Cabin Burglary and Vandalism

2. On 9/19/07, the SCSO received a report of a cabin burglary and vandalism on Ashview Road in Maine Prairie Twp.  Unknown persons ransacked the cabin after forcing entry through a window.  Nothing was stolen, but extensive damage was done.  Persons with information are asked to contact Crime Stoppers.

St. Cloud Police: Attempted Aggravated Robbery and Kidnapping

On 09/18/07 at approximately 2153 hours were dispatched to 702 33rd Avenue North, EZ Stop, for an attempted robbery complaint. According to the victim, an 18 year old female of St. Cloud, she was leaving work when confronted by a male displaying a handgun who demanded that she let him back into the locked store for money. She explained that the store could on1y be reopened by a manager's key which she did not have.

The male demanded that she drive him to the east side of St. Cloud. The victim drove the male to the area of Hwy 10 and E. St Germain where he got out of her vehicle. The victim was not injured and the suspect did not obtain any money.

The suspect is described as a 19 year old, dark skinned black male, 5'10”, 150 pounds, with a small amount of facial hair on his chin and was wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt with black on it.

It is unknown if this robbery is related at all to the one that occurred the night before at Gas It For Less.
