Crime Stoppers Open Cases for Week of January 26, 2009

St. Cloud Police: Attempted Robbery

On 01/27/09 at approximately 1828 hours, officers were dispatched to the BP Gas Station at 727 St. Germain Street East in reference to an attempted robbery complaint.

Investigation revealed that a black male approximately 18-26 years of age had demanded money from the cashier. Nothing appears to have been taken in this robbery attempt. The suspect exited the business and fled on foot. At this time this incident is an ongoing investigation.

St. Cloud Police: Business Burglary and Theft

On 01/26/09 at 0003 hours officers were dispatched to 2700 block of Clearwater Road for an alarm. Upon arrival officers observed that the front window had been smashed with a brick and the suspect had gained entry into the business.

The suspect was wearing a dark colored hooded sweatshirt, a light colored two tone winter jacket, a dark colored face mask, jeans, and a back pack. The suspect took numerous items and left the business.

A track was completed with the assistance of the Waite Park Police Departments K-9 Unit. At this time the investigation is ongoing. Authorities believe that this crime is related to a similar incident at this same location, one week ago. See next crime report!

St. Cloud Police: Business Burglary and Theft (From week of 1-19-09)

On 01/18/09 at approximately 2331 hours officers were dispatched to the 2700 block of Clearwater Road reference an alarm. Upon arrival officers determined that the front window had been smashed out and someone had gained entry inside the build1ing.

A track was done with the assistance of Waite Park Police canine; however, no suspect was locked at this time.

The suspect took merchandise from inside the store and left on foot. The suspect is described as a Hispanic male, approximately 20 to 27 years old, 5'9” tall, wearing a two toned winter jacket, a dark hoodie, a light colored baseball hat and a backpack.

St. Cloud Police: Suspicious Fire

On 011"24/09 at approximately 0249 hours, officers responded to the 800 block of 6th Avenue South, for a fire.

Investigation revealed that a couch had started on fire while on the porch of the residence. The St. Cloud Fire Department arrived on scene to extinguish the fire and they believed it was caused by a cigarette butt.

No one was injured by the fire and officers could not determine who had caused the fire. At this time, officers do not suspect arson to be a factor in this incident.

Sherburne County Sheriff: Criminal Vehicular Homicide – Hit-and-Run (From week of 1-19-09)

The Sherburne County Sheriff is investigating a Criminal Vehicular Homicide – Hit-and-Run. The victim was struck by a motorized vehicle between the hours of 0630-0700 while crossing Highway 25 Big Lake to get his mail. The suspect vehicle left the scene and the victim was pronounced dead moments later.

The suspect vehicle is likely a truck or SUV style vehicle with damage probably to the front left corner, windshield and may have damage to the driver side rear view mirror. Due to the extent of the injuries sustained the suspect vehicle may have blood, hair or human tissue near the above mentioned areas. Our agency is requesting body shops and repair businesses to be aware and looking for any vehicles that may match the above information. We request the following counties to receive this information: Anoka, Benton, Isanti, Mille Lacs, Stearns, and Wright.
