Crime Stoppers Open Cases for Week of February 9, 2009

St. Cloud Police: Attempted Scam

On 02/07/09 at approximately 1430 hours, officers received a report that an elderly female had been contacted by phone indicating that she had won a 1.5 million dollar lottery. The suspects also provided a claim number to her, which they said she needed in order to claim the prize.

The suspects then indicated that she needed to bring $355 to Wal-mart to cover the expense of getting her the prize, at which time they would release the prize amount to her.

This female had received a similar call approximately one month ago, believed to be from the same suspects, at which time her son was with her and they refused to meet with her.

Plainclothes officers from the St. Cloud Police Department' attempted a sting at Wal-mart to set up the suspects, however the suspects were not able to be located.

The St. Cloud Police Department would like to remind the public to exercise caution when dealing with individuals who indicate they may have won a prize, especially when dealing with a lottery they may not have entered.

Anyone experiencing similar suspicious activity is encouraged to contact the St. Cloud Police Department.

St. Cloud Police: Business Burglary and Theft (From week of 2-2-09)

On 01/31/09 at approximately 0430 hours, officers were dispatched to the 900 block of County Road 4 for a burglary. Investigation revealed that a suspect forced entry into a business by throwing a brick through a glass door. The suspect took lottery tickets and cigarettes from inside the business.

St. Cloud Police: Business Burglary and Theft (From week of 1-26-09)

On 01/26/09 at 0003 hours officers were dispatched to 2700 block of Clearwater Road for an alarm. Upon arrival officers observed that the front window had been smashed with a brick and the suspect had gained entry into the business.

The suspect was wearing a dark colored hooded sweatshirt, a light colored two tone winter jacket, a dark colored face mask, jeans, and a back pack. The suspect took numerous items and left the business.

A track was completed with the assistance of the Waite Park Police Departments K-9 Unit. At this time the investigation is ongoing. Authorities believe that this crime is related to a similar incident at this same location, one week ago. See next crime report!

St. Cloud Police: Business Burglary and Theft (From week of 1-19-09)


On 01/18/09 at approximately 2331 hours officers were dispatched to the 2700 block of Clearwater Road reference an alarm. Upon arrival officers determined that the front window had been smashed out and someone had gained entry inside the build1ing.

A track was done with the assistance of Waite Park Police canine; however, no suspect was locked at this time.

The suspect took merchandise from inside the store and left on foot. The suspect is described as a Hispanic male, approximately 20 to 27 years old, 5'9” tall, wearing a two toned winter jacket, a dark hoodie, a light colored baseball hat and a backpack.
