St. Cloud Police: 1st Degree Burglary and Theft

On 04/22/09 at approximately 0929 hour's two unknown male suspects entered an apartment in the 1300 block of 6th Street North at gunpoint, and held the adult female victim captive while one of the suspects stole items from within. The suspects left the apartment with stolen items consisting of electronics and cash.

The suspects are described as: #1, black male, early thirties, 5’10”, 200-220 pounds, stocky build, goatee, bald, wearing a black sweatshirt with red lettering across the chest, and #2, black male, early thirties, 5'10", possibly bald, stocky build, wearing a light blue sweatshirt.

The victim reports that both suspects were similar in appearance and may have been related. The victim was unharmed. The victim did not know the suspects.

St. Cloud Police: Residential Burglary and Theft

On 04/21/09 at approximately 1847 hours, officers were dispatched to the 1300 block of 6th Avenue South for a burglary report. Investigation revealed that a suspect entered an apartment while the victims were gone. During the burglary, a large amount of cash was stolen.

Benton County Sheriff: 15 – Suspicious Grass Fires

Benton County Sheriff Brad Bennett is requesting the he1p of the public in regards to several recent grass fires in Benton County.

On 4/16/09 between the hours of 10:00 p.m. and 11:29 p.m. seven grass fires occurred in Glendorado Township. One additional grass fire also occurred just into Sherburne County.

On 4/14/09 two grass fires occurred between 9:29 p.m. and 10:45 p.m. in Glendorado Township.

Last fall six suspicious grass fires were reported. Five were in Glendorado Township and one in St George Township.

These suspicious fires are being investigated by The Benton County Sheriffs Office, Foley Fire Department, and the DNR.

St. Cloud Police: Attempted Residential Burglary

On 04/20/09 at approximately 0443 hours, officers responded to a report of a burglary in the 200 block of 2nd Avenue Northeast.

Investigation revealed that an employee who was collecting trash in the area may have interrupted the suspect in a burglary as he attempted to break into a garage behind a residence.

The suspect was described as a male wearing dark clothing, approximately 5'9", last seen walking southeast through the intersection of 2nd Street and 3rd Avenue Northeast.

Officers located items of evidentiary value at the scene and collected the items to be processed. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact the St. Cloud Police Department at 320-251-1200 or Crime Stoppers at 320-255.1301.

Stearns County Sheriff: Burglary and Theft from a Storage Shed

4-17-2009   The Stearns County Sheriff's Office is investigating the theft of 8 tires and rims from a storage shed near Avon.  Taken were 4 -17" Goodyear Eagles 245-40-17 along with 3 - 16" Dunlop tires with Firebird center caps.  1 - 16" unknown brand also with Firebird center cap.  The theft occurred sometime in the last few days.  There was also damage done to a vehicle in the shed. 
 
Stearns County Sheriff: Business Burglary and Theft

On 4/19/09 at approximately 02:40 AM the Hayloft Bar and Restaurant in St Augusta was burglarized.  It appears the rear door of the building was forced open.  Suspects stole approximately $2,400 to $3,000 from the building.  The money was pinned to the ceiling with various names and/or phrases on it written with a black marker.  The majority of the bills were in ones and fives.  The Stearns County Sheriff’s Office is asking the public for assistance in locating any of the people that may be attempting to pass these bills.  If by chance anyone attempts to use these marked bills, please contact the Stearns County Sheriff’s Office.
 
St. Cloud Area: Car Insurance Scam

A local insurance agent reported that people in the St. Cloud area have been receiving phone calls at all times of the day and night. The caller tells them that their auto insurance has expired and that they shouldn’t drive their vehicles until the insurance is reinstated.

The caller then tells the potential victim that he can handle the reinstatement process over the phone. He then asks for all types of personal information that can and does result in Identity Theft.

If you receive such a call, do not give out any information, but tell them that you will contact your insurance agent regarding this. Then report this incident to your local police and your insurance agent.

St. Cloud Police: 5 – Arson Fires (From Week of April 13, 2009)

On 4/14/09 at approximately 0052 hours officers responded to the 900 block of 13th Avenue North for a fire complaint. Officers observed a bag of garbage that had been set on fire.

Within a 15 minute time period, four other fires were reported, all along the 8th Street North corridor from 13th Avenue North to 25th Avenue North.

A total of five fires were set to garbage bags or cans. Officers checked the area for potential suspects but found no one. The St. Cloud Fire Department assisted in extinguishing the fires.
