Crime Stoppers Open Cases for Week of February 11, 2008

Stearns County Sheriff:  Theft from Snowmobile

The SCSO received a report of a theft, having occurred in the townsite of Marty.  During the night of Feb 11th, unknown person or persons walked into the front yard of a private home.  The homeowner had a Yamaha SXR snowmobile for sale parked in the front yard, chained to a tree.  The suspect(s) removed the skis from the snowmobile.  The skis are an after market specialty ski, brand name USI, Project X skis, made of black plastic.  Based on shoe prints in the snow, it appeared the suspect had run and hid behind some pine trees when a car went by, and was later picked up by an accomplice in a car which had been driving on CR 8.  Persons with information are asked to contact Crime Stoppers.     

St. Cloud Police: Aggravated Robbery and Theft

On 02/12/08 at approximately 0201 hours, officers were dispatched to a robbery that had just occurred in front of the St. Cloud Library, 405 St. Germain Street West.

Investigation revealed that a black male approximately 170 pounds in his mid 20's and a black female approximately 110 pounds in her mid 20's had approached the victim, a 48 year old male of St. Cloud, and displayed a knife demanding money. The suspect took the victim's wallet and left without causing any injuries to the victim. Officers searched the area, but were unable to locate the suspect.

St. Cloud Police: Residential Burglary and Theft

On 02/11/08 at approximately 2210 hours officers were dispatched to 1800 block of 16th Street Southeast for a burglary.

Officers met with three female victims from St. Cloud, who had their apartment burglarized on 02/02/08 between 0300 hours and 0900 hours. The three victims had gone to bed at 0300 hour, and had left the front door to their apartment unlocked. When they awoke, they noticed that numerous items had been taken from their kitchen and living room.

They did not hear anyone and were not awaken during the night of the burglary. Nobody was injured as a result of this incident.

Sartell Police: 2 – Case Summaries

Monday, February 4

8:51 p.m. Theft, Bernick’s Arena. A Motorola Que cell phone was stolen from the warming house while its owner was outside skating. Another skater reported that while he was outside skating, his wallet was stolen from the warming house.

Friday, February 8

9:45 a.m. Criminal damage, Sartell Golf Club. Suspect(s) damaged a sprinkler control box and pried open a golf ball dispenser machine.

Stearns County Sheriff: Mail Scam Alert

The Stearns County Sheriff has issued a mail scam alert. The intended victims receive a letter from a Financial Company in Rapid City telling them they won $57,000.00. Included with the letter is a check in the amount of $3,987.85. If you are the recipient of one of these letters, (see copies below), please notify your local law enforcement agency.

St. Cloud Police: Hit and Run with Property Damage

On 02/09/08 at approximately 0320 hours St. Cloud Police Officers were dispatched to the 1100 block of 13th Street South for property damage. It was reported that at approximately 2215 on 02/08/08 a vehicle, described as a white Taurus, ran into the side of the house and fled the scene.

Waite Park:  Business Burglary and Theft

Waite Park Police Department is investigating a burglary that occurred at Al’s Ornamental Iron, sometime between 2-1-08 and 2-4-08. Someone entered the building and broke into the candy machine. Nothing was taken from the candy machine, but it was damaged. Missing from the business is a black and blue barrel and aluminum.
