Crime Stoppers Open Cases for Week of April 21, 2008
Stearns County Sheriff: Business Burglary and Theft
During the morning of 4/21/08, the SCSO received a report of a burglary at
Goat Roper’s Bar in Farming. Unknown suspect(s) forced entry to the bar
and stole numerous bottles of liquor and cash free ATM. (ATM is a
redemption machine and contained no actual cash) Suspects also attempted
to force open the jukebox and dart machines causing extensive damage
St. Cloud Police: Residential Burglary and Theft
On 04/22/08 at approximately 2040 hours officers were dispatched to the
1800 block of 26th Street South in reference to a burglary that just
occurred.
Investigation revealed that a Hispanic male, in his 20s, approximately
5'4", Medium build, had forced entry into the residence through the front
door. The home at the time was occupied by the 28-year-old resident who
was nursing an infant at the time.
The victim confronted the suspect and the suspect fled through the front
door and ran southbound on Cooper Avenue. The suspect stole a Sony digital
video camera from the residence.
Waite Park Police: Vandalism
Waite Park Police Department is investigating a report of vandalism at the
Lions Park located off of 7th Street S and Angus Acres. Between Sat April
26th and the early morning hours of Sunday April 27th, Suspect(s) used
white spray paint to spray trees, dumpsters, buildings and a nearby
vehicle with obscenities and other phrases such as “tree hugger” and
“hello”.
Waite Park Police: Scam Alert-
Medicare Cards
On Monday April 21st, a Waite Park resident reported receiving a call in
regards to Medicare. The caller stated all seniors will be receiving new
Medicare cards and they will need to carry with the card when going to the
doctor or pharmacist. The caller then gave the resident their full name
and address. The caller asked for the date of birth to verify they were
speaking to the correct person. The caller then asked about the resident’s
social security check and asked what bank the checks are automatically
deposited into. The resident then stopped the caller and stated they
needed to find out more about the reason for the call before giving out
any more information. The caller then hung up. The caller spoke with a
broken accent.
Please remember not to give out any personal information over the phone.
Ask questions and not giving out information about your bank account. It
is not hard to get someone’s full name and address off the internet. Do
not be afraid to ask questions, get a call back number and hang up. Call
the number back or do some checking on your own. You could call the number
you have at home from a statement or correspondence and inquire about the
call you received. You can help to protect yourself from becoming a victim
of identity theft.
Sartell Police: 7 – Case Summaries
Tuesday, April 8
3:30 p.m. Theft, 1500 block of Oriole Avenue. License plate was removed
from vehicle.
Thursday, April 10
2:45 p.m. Criminal damage, 900 block of 11th Street South. Vehicle tires
were flattened while it was parked overnight in the driveway.
Monday, April 14
9:10 a.m. Theft, 200 block of 7th Street North. Theft of a catalytic
converter. Suspect(s) cut the catalytic converter out of the truck while
the truck was parked in the back parking lot of Riverside Plaza.
7:45 p.m. Vandalism, Corner of Scout Drive and Centennial Court. Utility
box was sprayed with graffiti.
Friday, April 18
8:20 p.m. Theft and criminal damage, Perkins. A female reported that her
vehicle window was smashed and her purse was stolen while the vehicle was
parked in the parking lot. The purse contained several items, including a
cell phone and MP3 player.
Saturday, April 19
6:16 p.m. Theft, 600 block of 5th Avenue South. Homeowner reported that
two decorative brown and tan flower pots, 14” wide x 18” tall, were stolen
from the front of the residence.
